Teacher Pages & Links

THIS SITE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION...

Some links are great sites for teachers - check back often...

"Teaching should be such that what is offered is perceived as a valuable gift and not as a hard duty."

Albert Einstein

The goal for this page is to provide a resource for teachers in the classroom. It is primarily geared towards intermediate elementary and middle school teachers with an emphasis on science; however, many of these resources are not limited to only those levels. Please enjoy; and if you have any insight, advice, or comments, don't hesitate to contact me via E-mail. Although, I'm still a teacher, so my time is limited for maintaining this site regularly.

Math:

Virtual Manipulatives Site National Library of Virtual Manipulatives offers this amazing resource for math teachers for all levels. Designed by topic and grade level - this is sure to be useful to any math teacher with an Internet connection.

Science:

Environmental

Environmental Research Page This page lists current and progressive research being done in the environmental studies field. Students can use this real life data for projects, assignments, or even just to fulfill curiosity.

Northern Research Portal University of Saskatchewan Archives and Library's website presents resources for the active study of northern Canada and the circumpolar world. It includes material such as maps, photographers, and published and unpublished works, many of which are presented as interpretive exhibits. The material is grouped for different audiences -- K-5 students, general readers, and advanced researchers. There are also resources for K-12 teachers.

Earth Science

Montana's Earch Science Pictures Montana is a land of Earth Science marvels. This site organizes a series of images taken of Montana's various landmarks with detailed scientific explanations of the geological factors that helped shape that land. It provides links for teachers to navigate the site effectively.

Astronomy

AstroMeeting - Pictures of Our Universe Stefan Seip is a German astrophotographer and has written illustrated articles for many magazines as well as the Astronomy Pictures of the Day. Find photos of star trails around Polaris, atmospheric phenomena such as auroras, the "green flash" of the sun, comets, constellations, galaxies, and more.

WebQuests:

Earth's Biomes WebQuest Students become experts about biomes and ecosystems through a realistic and interactive research project. The students pick a biome to research, explore various "approved" web sites about that biome, and create a project to present to their class.

WebQuest Matrix This site is where the original WebQuests were designed and posted by Bernie Dodge himself (the "father" of the WebQuest). It is now fully functioning for all teachers, students, and anyone wishing to find an interactive Web-Adventure! Click on the "Find WebQuests" link and try a search.

HCPSS WebQuest Matrix This is a matrix of curriculum-based WebQuests for elementary grades. The primary focus is that of science. I created it for Howard County Public Schools in Maryland.
